In response to my friend Dennis’s drawing a day challenge is this little surfer girl. Technically I guess I started a couple days ago, but forgot to post a sketch yesterday. Oops! Anyway, it’s a nice break from the storyboards I’m currently working on. This little girl was inspired by the lovely sunny weather we’re having in Portland right now. Summer, are you here already? Yeah, if summer was 50 degrees and book-ended by weeks of rain.

October 14th, 2009Going to figure drawing tonight so thought I better get off my arse and post these gesture drawings from the last time I went. They range from 1-5 minute long poses and were all done with my nifty Japanese brush pen which is helping me to stay loose. I’m trying to commit to the feeling of the pose and not get bogged down by structure.
Another 20 Minute Sketch

I’m developing the main character for a short film. I think he will be a shy little kid with an overactive imagination- a bit of a sad, nervous loner. Saw this little girl at Oak’s Park yesterday and immediately thought of my main character. She looked so sad and weird I had to try to draw her. Here she is.
